Gearbox Cap, New Reverse Engineering project 😍😎

I got excellent accuracy on this part. 0.01mm on machined diameters and also for positioning pins.

the scan was done in modified version of FlexScan3D and using my DIY scanner. then I redesigned this part in CATIA based on the scan data, and finally I designed casting pattern (casting mold).

in the photos you can see the scan mesh, and also the reverse engineering CAD design and also the CNC milling Casting pattern.

for the first sample of casting pattern, we make it with wood (HDF), and then we can make an Aluminum casting pattern for mass production.

I uploaded both scan data (.stl file) and also the CAD design (.stp file), you can download them and use them as an exercise for reverse engineering.
