Geneva Wheel 5
When researching Automata project ideas, I discovered the Geneva wheel. It is a really fun way to introduce intermediate mechanical concepts and it makes a great fidget. My first iterations used 1/4" basswood for the axles and I've handed a bunch of them out to my robotics students. But that took a lot of work to assemble. This version is completely 3D printed and can be assembled with glue. Be sure to attach the crank handle to the cam and not the Geneva wheel. You can print in one color or print in different colors to have some contrast which makes it much easier to see the motion. On some prints, I chose to mark one of the Geneva wheel lobes to better show motion.
