Garmin GPS Mount
After getting into a car accident over the summer I had no need for my GPS until I got a new car a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I lost the mount for it that I used to have. A trip to Best Buy later though, and I had a new mount.
It was the MagicMount by Scosche, which worked by having you stick a metal plate onto the back of your GPS, and that metal plate stuck to a magnet on the mount. This worked great. . . Until the second time I tried to use it and the magnet pulled the metal plate right off of my GPS.
After several futile attempts to get it to stick back onto my GPS I decided to go another route and just make my own.
This piece is for a pretty specific problem, but in order to expand the possible range of uses, I'm uploading two versions. The first is designed to simply fit onto a GPS and has a blank back so someone can modify it to attach to whatever they want. The other one is specifically designed to attach the GPS to the clip on a magic mount the magnet would normally fit onto. I have a Garmin nuvi 2597LMT that I used for the dimensions. I don't know whether this kind of mount would work on other units or not, but you're obviously welcome to try.
I'm also going to upload a .STP file for it too in order to make it as easy as possible to modify. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
