Building Block Set - Zeolites (Faujasite and A-type)
This design replicates Sodalite cages and how they fit together and create pores for both the Zeolite Type A and the Zeolite Type X, Y (Faujasite) configurations. To create the Zeolite Faujasite model you will need to print sodalite cages and hex connectors, and to create a Zeolite Type A model you need to print sodalite cages and square connectors.
This design is to scale with another design in our library, the "Alkene Molecule Models (to scale with zeolite)", please make sure you print the correct size as there are also alkene molecules to scale with our platinum-based designs ("Building Block Set - Nanoparticles" and "FCC cube with 100 110 111 plane cleaves").
This design is roughly to scale (based on pore size), with 4 mm for the model equals 1 Angstrom in the real world. This makes the pore size for Type A 16.4mm which represents the pore size begin 4.1 Angstroms in the real world. This also has the pore size for the Faujasite being 30.4mm which represents the pore size begin 7.6 Angstroms in the real world.
We have also created magnetic inserts that fit within both pore sizes to help simulate sites where bonds break and bond to the zeolites. These designs have corresponding magnetic molecules, which can be found in both the "Accessories to Designs" section of our Thingiverse page as well as our "Alkene Molecule Models to scale two sizes (Ethene/Ethylene, Propene/Propylene, cis-2-butene & trans-2-butene)" section.
