Snap-together Circular Base & Dial for Star Trek Alliance
UPDATE: I have a new, totally redesigned Circular Base Dial for Star Trek Alliance available on Makerworld (where I will be publishing my models from now on). Please check it out here. https://makerworld.com/en/models/2270311-circular-base-dial-for-star-trek-alliance#profileId-2474678
This is a circular base and dial for use with custom models for Star Trek Alliance and Star Trek Attack Wing. It is sized to match the diameter of the obstacle disks included in the Star Trek Alliance Dominion War Campaign box sets. I designed these bases to work specifically with the Dominion Shipyard and Federation Listening Post models I made as well as the Cardassian Orbital Weapons Platform by Omicron007 (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4760539).
Be sure to print and cut out the included dial numbers on label paper (or simply use glue or double-sided tape) and adhere it to the inset ring of the base BEFORE assembling the dial. You will not be able to disassemble the dial after snapping it together without damaging it.
The dial should snap together with a light to moderate amount of force. The dial should have just enough friction to turn easily but not spin freely. If the dial does not snap together properly, try trimming or sanding the center hole of the top portion of the dial rather than trimming the center post or resizing either the top or bottom piece. Trimming the center post may remove the dial's ability to hold together once assembled and resizing either piece may prevent them from fitting together at all.
Depending on your printer, filament, and slicer settings, the center hole may provide too much clearance for a standard STAW peg to fit snugly. If the hole is too loose, I recommend wrapping the STAW peg with tape instead of attempting to resize the base. Resizing the base will cause it to be the wrong size for Star Trek Alliance and may prevent the dial from snapping together or turning properly.
