Mounting for ZWO EAF motor focus on UNCN2-G2 and TSRPN2 focusers
Mounting for ZWO EAF motor focus on UNCN2-G2 and TSRPN2 focusers
I did not like the (EU to US) shipping costs and design of the Astroprints version of this, so I made my own - for you to enjoy. It works well with the TS Optics UNC2008 Newtonian focuser.
- You can order the flex coupling (metal part) from amazon; 4mm (Focuser)-5mm (ZWO) Shaft Coupling 25mm, 18mm diameter (about 9$ for two). Or the non-flex UXcell version (this is the same used in the OG design, I expect the latter could result in periodic error if not well aligned). The flex couplings that came with the ZWO EAF are 19mm diameter, it is too tight of a fit inside the focuser.
- Any M4 x 20 nut and bolt can be used for the tightening ring. Best is to use a metal-nylon lock nut and Hex Socket Head cap bolts (they don't strip)
- Use the screws and rings that came with your ZWO EAF kit
Improvements;
- Orientation of the locking screw hole and the EAF itself
- Higher stiffness by using more material
- Better material (OG is UV resistant PLA that will not hold up in Texas)
- Using a Flex coupling
Assembly directions:
- use a hex key to remove the focusser knob from the UNCN2-G2
- install the Flex coupling on the 4mm focus shaft, make sure it stick out enough for the EAF to catch it later
- install the 3D printed mount on the EAF using the ZWO screws
- install the tightening screw on the 3d Print mount, mount it on the focusser, tighten
- rotate the focusser so that the Flex coupling screw becomes visible on the 3D printed "window", tighten that side
- Done
Print material : PETG CF infused (very stiff, shock resistant and UV resistant).
Settings : Ender 3, Bed temp 70C, Nozzle Temp 240
