Stand for Metcal soldering iron

Stand to accommodate either a Metcal PS2 plastic or metal handpiece.

Ideally printed in thermosetting material like UV resin. FDM prints will not withstand the heat.

•Spaces for OEM brass wool and sponge.

-Drain hole between brass wool and sponge, so any over-spray doesn’t sit and corrode the brass

•Holds 7 spare SSTC/SMTC tips

-Holes to prevent ‘suction-cupping’ in resin prints

Updates:

V2: Made cradle removable and interchangeable. Dovetails hold the required cradle in place, base can be repurposed as needed.
•Added larger ‘shelf’ for handpiece to rest on while reducing pressure on the rubber grip
V1.4: Increased height and deepened sponge cutout to accommodate the unusually thick OEM Metcal sponge

Plans for improvement:

•Add magnet for ‘standby-mode’
•Add step to accommodate micro-handpieces
•Make handpiece slot interchangeable as a separate part
