Fiber Optic Spectrophotometer

Remix of GaudiLabs Open Fiber Spectrometer.

To enhance performance, paint the interior black and press a 5mm plastic laser lens into the fiber optic input until it is flush with the inner wall. Use the modified cuvette holder design available on my page to significantly improve light flux through the sample, into the fiber optic, and into the spectrophotometer. Additionally, I glued a pair of razor blades to the baffle nearest to the grating to create an optical slit. With the increased light input from the lens coupling, I was able to tighten the slit significantly compared to the previous model, achieving a resolution of ~1nm with sufficient flux to do absorbance measurements.

For general theory, refer to the home page on the original idea from GaudiLabs: https://www.gaudi.ch/GaudiLabs/?page_id=825.
Uses a 1000 line/mm diffraction grating card and a USB webcam as a detector. Modify the model to fit your webcam if needed.

Spectra can be analyzed with high precision using Theremino Open Source software. Accurate for 400-1100nm, given any bayer filters are removed from the camera.
