Egg Drop Project (AP Physics C) --- Rated for ~ 20 ft --- (Suitable for 2nd story /or/ in class drops)

For my AP Physics C Course we were instructed to create an apparatus that is able to withstand falling from the 3rd floor window ~ 33 ft.

As it can be seen, my apparatus failed in the main goal of preventing the egg from breaking.

However, with previous trials, my apparatus withstood the fall from the second floor ~ 20ft.

-----------------------INSTRUCTIONS--------------------------------
To create this apparatus, insert paper towels within each 2nd slot which would aid in the absorption of the impact. Furthermore, insert the egg with the "Egg drop v3" file/3Dprint through the "egg drop project insertion" file/3D print. (This would allow for safe measures from the egg hitting the ground in its "weakest" position. Then, place one of the "cushion addition" file/3D print on each side within the "egg drop v3"file/3Dprint.

----------------------POST REFLECTION------------------------------

For the next iteration of this project, I will think about how I am able to not only absorb the force normal/ force of impact but "deflect it".

The straw apparatus is a great example of how "transferring" the force away from the egg rather than to the egg provides more security and less of an impact to be felt by the egg. Furthermore, extending the time of the force such that the impulse is the greatest (force x time) would allow for the egg to experience the force over a longer period of time, lessoning the extent of the impact being felt on the egg.
