Volvo 240 Phone Mount
Update V2 has been added for better view of the switch's and made it shorter to make it easier to take your phone out.
"Old Volvos never die, but you might get lost in one! Here is a clip on phone holder for the 1981-1993 Volvo 240. The clips hold onto the little tray above the hazard light/cigarette lighter/air con switch. It's intentionally a tight fit and needs a little persistence, patience, and force to get them into place - I find that pushing a thumb into the curved bottom edge of the tray while forcing the clip to rotate into position does the trick. I'm not sure that makes sense, so am very happy to expand on it if anyone needs clarification. The clips are pretty tough, so I had no problems getting them into place once I overcame my fears that I'd snap them." - Blippy
Thanks to Blippy for the great mount design. I remixed it and deleted the cup holder and instead added a phone holder. I had to edit the mount to fit the phone holder. Now I have a place for a drink and my phone.
This phone holder can hold phones up to 78MM Wide X 160 Height X 14 MM Depth. The phone holder was design for a One Plus 7T Pro 5G with a case on it. I included both a file ready to load into cura and a shapr3D file if you would like to remix this holder and design one that fit your own phone👍
Instructions
I recommend using ASA since this is for automotive use. Assemble the mount and holder before installation onto dash since these a tight fit it will be hard to slide them in after the fact. Use some kind of lube to me it mount on to the dash little easier.
Optional
I used Polyester and double sided tape on the surface of where the phone will be sliding in and out of. I added this to make easier on the phone to slide on the surface and less wear and tear on the case.
