XY Movement Platform for G1200 Microscope
This is a 3D-printed mechanism designed for precise movement in the XY plane, compatible with the G1200 generic microscope commonly used for electronics work.
The mechanism allows controlled X-axis movement via a screw, where one full rotation corresponds to a 0.5mm shift. The Y-axis movement is achieved by manually sliding the platform. It uses friction to reduce backlash, providing improved control for small adjustments, making it perfect for fine movement during electronic inspections, soldering, or any delicate task.
Paraffin wax can be applied to the main screw and base holes to optimize smoothness.

Notes
This design is not perfect and has some limitations. There is noticeable vibration when moving the platform, whether using the sliding mechanism or turning the knob. This is inherent to the design, as it relies on 3D-printed components and friction-based adjustments.
Despite these imperfections, the mechanism provides significant utility when working under maximum zoom levels on the microscope. It allows for more controlled and precise movements compared to using tweezers or manually adjusting objects by hand.
