Laser cut trebuchet inspired by Age of Empires II (AoE2)
If you want to gift a piece of history and nostalgia—a meticulously laser-cut trebuchet inspired by the iconic siege weaponry from Age of Empires II you are right here. I built it as a wedding gift out of wood or acrylic (all 3mm). twenty 2€ coins (~25mm coins) act as counterweight and for decoration a 50€ note.
When fully assembled, this trebuchet isn’t just a display piece, it’s functional! Load it with small projectiles (I used lasercut hearts).
Cutting files are provided as svg (tested) and dxf.
material:
- 3mm wood and/or acrylic (~0.2m²)
- 20 coins (~25mm eg. 2€)
- 4mm screw post with 5mm hull diameter spanning:
- 6mm
- 9mm
- 33mm
- 45mm
- some thread and fabric for the sling
- some felt gliders, otherwise the turning screw in the center is the lowest point and the build wiggles around
If you want to use it also as a wedding gift, you might also find this text usefull as inspiration for the accompanying greeting card:
We are delighted that XXX has managed to win YYY's heart, so that you can now enter the marriage harbor and unite your kingdoms. This marks the beginning of a new era for you. May your alliance become an impregnable fortress that can withstand any siege - be it the battlefield in the kitchen, the hordes of appointments or a hole in the war chest. To prevent the latter, we hereby pay a modest tribute as a precaution.
We consider ourselves lucky that we have been able to accompany you on some of your waypoints so far and hope that in the future neither pathing lets you down nor palisades or walls stand in your way, so that you can always find to each other (and if not, you now have the appropriate siege equipment)
With this hope, we would like to wish you much success for your biggest campaign with a hearty Wololo.
