Test Tube Racks for 1000 μL Pipette Tip Boxes

My job buys all their pipette tips boxed and racked so once we go through a box we end up with lots of empty plastic boxes in the lab or the trash. I decided to make a test tube rack holder that fits the 1000 μL FinnTips from ThermoScientific. This is a good way to reuse all that extra plastic since I have to store samples fro long periods of time for QC sake and I got tired of filling up bulky test tube racks.

I am calling this a remix of jasnovid's design cause I tried to use their original version but it seems Thermo has a slightly different pipette box design compared to other brands and I couldn't get a good fix using their models.

12/20/2024 - Still not printed this, but will be using a resin printer Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra in the new year.
01/03/2025 - Got the first print done! The tab slots on the long ends need approx 1 mm more spacing to fit on the tabs in the box, the short-end ones are perfect My 16mm glass test tubes fit perfectly and stay upright in the box. TBH this one is good enough that I will just attach some rubber tape and keep it as is.
