Art Project: Have your 3D Model displayed in an Art Gallery

Participate in a Crowd-Sourced Art Project to be displayed in a Art Gallery in Victoria BC Canada!

For this art project, I am crowd sourcing 3D models to be printed in red ABS and displayed on shelves on a wall in a grid pattern at an art gallery in Victoria BC. The exhibition is in early May. The concept involves the editing of the cube model on this site into whatever you like so long as it is printable and meets the Parameters specified below. I won't make any content judgements, only technical (manufacturing) judgements, so upload whatever you like and it will be displayed in the gallery setting. The printed models may be given away for free during the exhibition and replaced by new prints of your model. Photos will be posted to this site after the exhibition. Please note that I won't be selling any of these models or making any profit from this process.

Theory:

Is this really art? That is one topic being explored here. In this piece, roles are being shifted with the artist as the manufactor and the art content being sourced from all of you. It speaks to the new relationship we have with information, ownership and creativity thanks to the growth of the digital age. It seems clear that 3D printing has the potential to change the relationship that we have with precious objects and sculpture as well as the manufacturing process. There are parallels to be drawn with the music industry and the effect that cheap and easy-to-use professional recording software and hardware has had on the creation of music.
