Customiize Slotting Guide Base

Fully Customiize Slotting Guide Base. Can also be used as an end stop.

slotBase.json contains the dimensions for my bases:

  • round metal
  • rectangular plastic

You can choose 2 types of holes for fixing the plate to the base:

  • Conical for countersunk screws
  • Cylindrical for semicircular screws

There are 2 types of stops:

  • flat stop corner
  • stop corner with a cutout for a milling cutter.

Remember that the stop corner with a cutout is asymmetrical. If you want to install it on the other side, print it mirrored.

There are two options for stop corners:

  • solid
  • two-piece - to simplify printing.

I recommend printing stops in two pieces and then gluing the part together. There are positioning holes for precise positioning of the parts. Insert pieces of filament into them when gluing. After the glue dries, cut off the excess rod and sand it. I use dichloroethane to glue PETG. You can glue with cyanoacrylate adhesives. However, it seems to me that cyanoacrylate adhesives make the part brittle.

The default settings are for M4 fasteners.
Insert M4 nuts into the base plate.
Fasten the plate to the base with 10-12 mm long screws.
Fix the stop corners with non-countersunk screws. Use screws with an enlarged head, or put a washer under the head to increase the contact area.
Note that the stop fixing screws should not protrude from the plate. Otherwise, they will rest against the main base of the router. For the default settings, 6 mm is sufficient.
If necessary, limit the length of the screws by installing washers.
