R2D2 Utility Arm Logics decorative plate
I wanted something similar to filler decorative panels posted by Gonz Pousada J Luis for the interior of the bread pans and data ports but for placement behind the utility arms. I was too late to incorporate any Utility Arm Logic mods as my final body is printed and painted, but I wanted a more decorative look. So by incorporating input by the files available from the Printed Droid Website for someday use of the UAL PCA available, and incorporating the look of Serge Landry's beautiful plug and socket as postedR2 Builders club , I created this decorative panel.
Notes:
-Upper location is a mirror of the lower.
-It has to be really thin in several places so as to not bump out/open the utility arms. Spot the LED holes that are shorter than the others:). I resorted to flat printing and a 0.2 nozzle.
-The plates will have to be carefully warped to match the interior radius of R2's utility arm area.
-The "UADP panel-R" file shows the finished contour, and is not intended to be printed.
-To keep as tight to the inside as possible, I fastened the plate down with M1 x 4mm screws starting from the logic light end and proceeding to the arm itself.
-I used colored vinyl applied to the body to get the protruding colors.
-paint adds thickness, paint sparingly.
Putting the files here so that I have some revision control as I continue to evolve this effort. Ultimate goal is to create a cut tool so that I can one day easily machine out the section for a legit plug receiver and logic lights.
1/30/2025 - Added "UADP panel POGO.STL" This is an an approximation of the POGO plug between body and cable. This can be printed and placed into the slots in each panel. Note, it can be printed with a normal 0.4 nozzle but you will need to keep layer height as minimal as possible.
