Deployable Cover Tokens For Infinity N5
Some 3D Printable Deployable Cover Tokens for Infinity N5.
I've started with a token for Cutting Foam which is based on the "Weaire–Phelan structure" which is an assembly of 12 Sided Dodecahedra and 14 Sided Tetrakaidecahedra that when arraged a certain way make a mathematically efficient way for equal-sized bubbles to fit together to make foam. i.e fancy sci-fi shapes make foam good. I borrowed and modified a design from DaveMakesStuff who's original STL files can be found here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4884608.
I've now made two designs for Vitroferro, one using a 3D Matrix of Truncated Octahedrons and the other using an array of Face Centred Cubic Lattices. Both should work to convey that they don't block Line of Sight (as you can see right through them at certain angles) but that they will absorb incoming bullets really well to justify the SR +6 they give units in the rules.
Despite being mostly empty space the printed test tokens using standard grey resin were ridiculously strong, the Face Centred Lattice was able to take a hammer blow and not break and I put the heaviest object I had to hand onto the Truncated Octahedron one and it barley sagged!
These should print at the size of an S3 Silhouette which is a 40mm cylinder with a height of 32mm but be sure to specify this to your slicer software.
I've made two designs for each type of Deployable Cover, one as a standard token to be read from above and one as more of a scenery element with the details on the side of the base, use the one your most comfortable with. I've updated one of the Cutting Foam Designs to make the foam element larger.
I may try other designs for Deployable Cover in the future if I can model more interesting structures in Fusion 360.
