Laser Cut 1.7GHz LHCP Antenna scaffold

Laser cut scaffold for L-band satellite antenna. Should work with any laser that can cut and engrave 3mm wood. Use the "CUT" image for cutting and the "ENGRAVE" image for text. (DXF file is just so Thingiverse wouldn't complain about a missing model, I use the PNGs directly with my laser).

Make sure to align the two in your laser so they come out correctly (see "PREVIEW" image).

Assembly should be straightforward if you engrave the numbers and arrows onto the piece. Secure with glue, paint or seal as desired if using outside.

To install the helical wire, coil a stiff piece of wire around a form (1.5" PVC pipe works well). Make sure to coil left-hand (counterclockwise) as the coil descends. Wind the coil into the holes on the assembled scaffold. Go slowly and don't force it, or the supports could break. Bend the bottom piece of wire in to reach the center. Attach a metal ground plane and antenna connector, then solder the center wire to the center of the antenna jack.

Works for NOAA, Meteor, Metop, etc weather satellites. Will work for GOES with a large enough dish.
