Toy Gyroscope Gimbal
This is a gimbal frame for the classic Tobar Gyroscope, giving a stable support for gyro experiments.
This design uses three standard 608 ball bearings (8x22x7mm), which can be purchased for a low price on eBay or Amazon.
There are 4 parts to print, the base, the frame, the two gyro mounting clips.
See the slicer screenshot for the best printing orientation. Only the frame part needs supports, noting that the shafts all have a flat on one side for easy support removal, so this side should be placed facing the buildplate. The bearings should fit tightly in their housings, the slicer settings may need to be adjusted for this.
Material: PETG or ABS is ideal as the frame is under tension when the gyro is installed.
Layer height: 0.2mm (maximum)
Wall loops: 3
Infill: 20%
Assembly:
Install the bearings in their housings, then push the bearings onto the shafts. Align the gyro mounts in the same orientation, bend the frame open slightly, and click the gyro into place.
