Fourier Orrery (Heart Curve)

Models a 5-component heart curve as a complex 1D Fourier transform. 2nd model of the Fourier Orrery collection.

A scaled up version meant to test the limits of 3D printing orreries. Has major improvements over the first square wave design, but now ends up being a bit flimsy. It operates smoothly enough, but the longest arm flexes quite a bit and gears still mesh too tightly creating small stutters. It doesn't make for a great demo piece, but it does at least show what is theoretically possible.
