Solder fume extraction the simple way
Solder fume extraction with a cheap dial gauge stand using the same principle as https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6979037
In addition, an old and no longer used hand-held vacuum cleaner was used here and installed in a wooden box as a sound absorber, combined with a speed control with a simple dimmer. The box with the vacuum cleaner was moved into the hallway and the cable extended accordingly ;-)
Activated carbon mats are used as filters, which are inserted into the former dust container of the hand-held vacuum cleaner and changed regularly.
Materials used:
- 2x M8x30 hex bolt
- Washer
- Wing nut or star knob M8 (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01MUWLDKF, but there are also much cheaper ones, I just had this one in stock)
- Magnetic dial gauge stand (e.g. https://www.ebay.de/itm/175475712236?var=474790080673)
- old hand-held vacuum cleaner from electronic scrap
- Activated carbon filter mats (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08FYGVQJZ)
- Dimmer for inductive loads (e.g. https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07D3R8WKT)
- Simple Schuko socket (e.g. https://www.bauaktiv-shop.de/product/steckdose-ap-weiss-cube-20142/, the box may need to be adapted accordingly)
(Sorry about the poor print quality of the parts shown, I was in a hurry at the time and nothing is as durable as the provisional solution ;-) )
