Surgical instrument tip protectors (vase mode)

Just a simple design intended to be printed in vase mode/spiralized outer contour/etc as an imitation of standard tip protectors used during sterilization of surgical instruments. Required holes are included to allow steam/vapor to enter the protector. Included are standard-size small, medium, and large tip protectors, useful for most ringed instruments and forceps. You can also customize the .scad file for more sizes but obviously things are gonna hit an upper and lower limit.

The sample pictures are printed in PLA, but I recommend printing in a flexible or impact-resistant filament.

DISCLAIMER

This design has not been validated for use in a surgical setting by ASTM, AAMI, or any other certifying body. Most consumer 3D print filament is not compatible with autoclave/steam, radiation, cold chemical, or vapor/gas plasma sterilization methods. Please use a reference such as this along with validated processes for determining successful sterilization process challenges before implementing this design in any surgical setting.
