GameBoy Advance cartridge case_Ranziells Robust Remix_v8

This is a remix of Calvin_MegaZero’s excellent GBA cartridge case, with durability and print reliability upgrades for everyday use. The original design is clean and well-thought-out, but I wanted to make a few refinements based on practical print issues and daily wear.

What I Changed

  • Redesigned the closing system for a more precise and robust catch
  • Removed visible holes from the old latch system — results in a cleaner exterior look
  • Extended the inner side-wall guide rails to full width:
    • Adds partial friction closure
    • Supports the side walls, reducing flex and minimizing stress on the catch
  • Added a small ‘caulking bead’ (a ridge) along the inner cover walls:
    • Helps prevent print warping or wall failure, especially on lower-end machines
    • Tightened hinge tolerances slightly to reduce overextension and limit stress over time

These changes improve the longevity and strength of the case, especially if you're using it regularly. It adds some material, but trades off for better print success and less wear on the latch over time.

Notes

  • Original design by Calvin_MegaZero
  • I recommend PETG for added flexibility and toughness, but PLA works too if it's just for display
  • Cover art sizing still matches the original notes (158mm x 66mm)
