A hook that attaches to a door or other vertical structure.

Instructions

I wanted to make a coat hook that could be portable, and that uses gravity and tension to hold it in place.

Version 1 the arms were two far apart so with out the weight of something on the hook it would not stay in place, and it wanted to slide down the door edge slowly.

Version 2 solves the problem of needing weight to hold it in place, but lacked elegance of design. It too would slide a little bit.

Version 3 starts to bring some of the curves back into the design. I had used rubber bands to help give the arms grip. Pete suggested tool dip (bought at my local hardware store) which was a great idea, this prevented any possibility of the hook sliding without having an object in place.

Version 4 is the most elegant design and really applies a good deal of tension when an object is in place.
