160mm Lathe Chuck Soft Jaws with 1/16” Serration | Röhm KFD-HS Compatible | 3D Printable
These are 3D printable soft jaws designed for a 160mm 3-jaw lathe chuck with 1/16” (1.5875mm) 90° serrations. The design is intended for Röhm KFD-HS 160/3 chucks but may also be compatible with other brands using the same serration pattern.
Features:
• 1/16” (1.5875 mm) 90° serration for precise alignment
• Curved internal face for better clamping contact
• Two clamping holes for easy attachment
• Designed for PETG or similar tough materials
• After-turnable face (up to 5 mm from the bolt hole center) for perfect runout compensation
• Chamfered recesses to reduce internal stress concentration
Applications:
Perfect for clamping delicate parts or tools such as ER collets, small castings, or round workpieces where metal jaws would cause damage. Ideal for prototyping, one-off parts, or soft clamping during finishing operations.
Print Recommendations:
• Material: PETG, Nylon, or ABS (avoid PLA due to low heat resistance)
• Infill: 100% recommended for strength
• Layer Height: 0.2 mm
• Supports: Yes, especially for the curved profile
• Wall Count: At least 4 for structural integrity
Compatibility:
• Röhm KFD-HS 160/3
• Any 160mm chuck using 1/16” 90° serrated jaw mounts
• Custom modifications can be made to fit other chucks if needed
Notes:
These jaws are not suitable for high-speed or heavy-duty operations. Always verify clamping strength and perform test runs with low RPM. Inspect regularly for signs of wear or deformation.
Have a different chuck size or serration?
Leave a comment and I might add versions for other common chuck types (D125, D200, etc.).
