IMOU Ranger Baby Camera Mount for Ender 3 (Single-Piece Design)

This project provides a single-piece (monolithic) mount that allows you to easily attach an IMOU Ranger series baby/security camera to your Ender 3 3D printer. The mount is designed to securely fasten onto the 2020 aluminum extrusion (T-slot) of the Ender 3, letting you monitor print jobs or the surrounding area from various angles.

The design ensures that the camera’s pan/tilt movement is not obstructed. Hence, you can conveniently keep an eye on your printer, or repurpose the camera for other monitoring needs without losing its mobility.

A single-piece design that attaches to the printer’s aluminum profile and holds the camera.

No additional STL, STEP, or separate parts are required; the design is entirely one piece.

Print Settings
Printing Technology: FDM

Filament Type: PLA / PETG / ABS (choose based on your needs)

Layer Height: 0.2 mm recommended

Infill: 20% (the design is reinforced to be sturdy with this percentage)

Perimeters (Walls): 2-3 walls

Supports: Definitely required (especially around the camera cradle section)

Print Speed: 50 - 60 mm/s

(Note: Please adjust these settings as needed for your specific printer, filament brand, and environmental conditions.)

Post-Printing / Assembly
Removing Supports & Cleanup

After printing, carefully remove any supports.

Use a hobby knife or sandpaper to clean off any leftover material or rough edges.

Check the Fit

Inspect the camera cradle area to ensure there’s no excess filament or support remnants.

Make sure the camera can sit properly in the cradle.

Mounting on the Extrusion

Attach the mount onto the Ender 3’s 2020 aluminum extrusion using a T-nut (channel nut) and a suitable M5 (or M3/M4, depending on your design’s hole size) screw.

Confirm the mount is firmly seated and tightened.

Placing the Camera

Insert the IMOU Ranger camera into the mount.

Verify that the camera’s ability to rotate/pan is unrestricted.

Adjust the mount’s position on the extrusion if you need a different viewing angle.

Testing

Check the camera’s motion in all directions.

Make sure you have a clear view of the print bed (or any other area you’d like to monitor).

If you notice excessive vibration, ensure your printer is on a stable surface and that all screws (including the mount) are tightened.

Usage Tips
Keep the camera’s power cable organized to prevent tangles or snagging.

If you print at very high speeds, vibrations may affect the camera view; reducing speed or ensuring a stable printer setup can help.

Make sure the camera’s sensors (IR for night vision, etc.) are not blocked.

Conclusion
The Single-Piece Ender 3 IMOU Ranger series Camera Mount offers a straightforward and effective way to keep an eye on your 3D printer or surrounding space. Even at 20% infill, the part remains sufficiently sturdy. Use T-nuts and a proper screw size for secure mounting onto the 2020 extrusion. Feel free to share your feedback or improvements. Happy printing!
