Skimming Dragonfly Sandal
Enjoy summer with the skimming dragonfly sandal! Almost entirely printed, this sandal is comfortable and stylish for beachy days and lake dinners!
Materials needed: 2 yards of 3mm diameter elastic cord (https://www.michaels.com/product/pastel-elastic-cords-by-creatology-6ct-10647427?michaelsStore=5179&inv=2)
Instructions:
Note, this file is only for the left shoe. Mirror all components to make a right shoe.
- Print all files at the needed scale. The shoe is designed and sized to a women’s US size 7.5. For better organization, print beads with an outer brim. All files may need tree supports on the build plate only.
- Snap the circular pins into their corresponding holes on the bottom print of the shoe
- Slide the cord through the dragonfly head bead according to Diagram 2. Make sure that the right side of the cord (colored red) is approximately 5 inches longer than the left side of the cord.
- Thread the cord through the beads according to Diagram 3.
- Take the ends of the cords and loop them through the holes labeled A.
- Continue threading the cord through the beads according to Diagram 4.
- Again, take the ends of the cords and loop them through the holes labeled B.
- Thread the cord through the beads according to Diagram 5.
- Finish sliding the cord through the holes according to Diagrams 6 and 7.
- Thread the cord from the last bead into the holes labeled C.
- Flip the top half of the shoe over. Slide the right side of the cord (red) up through the left C hole and back down the right C hole. Tie the two ends of the cord together, and cut the excess.
- Snap the bottom print of the shoe onto the top print until completely closed.
