Summary

This is an adapter/baffle to mount a 15x11mm Sugar Cube-style speaker into an enclosure designed for a 28mm round speaker.
It was specifically designed to fit into the speaker enclosure of an Athearn SD70 HO scalelocomotive, but may fit in other locomotives as well, provided the enclosure has enough clearance. If properly sealed, it creates a speaker enclosure with descent sound.

Be sure to form a good seal between the speaker base and the speaker mount part</li><li>Glue the speaker mount part (with the speaker in it) to the under side of the baffle as shown in the pictures.  Be sure to form a good seal between the mount and the baffle.  Plastic solvent cement that utilizes capillary action to draw the glue between parts is ideal for this application (e.g. Plastruct Plastic Weld)</li><li>Allow the glue to set</li><li>Put a thin layer of silicone caulk (or some type of gasket) around the base of the 28mm speaker recess (in the locomotive) where the edge of the baffle will contact it.  </li><li>Gently place the speaker baffle (with the mounted speaker) into the 28mm mounting hole</li><li>Re-use the dummy weight screws to attach the baffle to the locomotive.  Tighten each side a quarter turn to put even tension on the baffle and form a good seal with the sealant in the enclosure (Note - on some Athearn Genesis SD70 models with a flywheel, the dummy weight screw is long enough to make contact with the rear drive shaft and cannot be used)</li><li>Solder the wire leads to the appropriate location on the decoder or locomotive board.</li></ul></div>
