Summary

A simple, yet much needed thing for your kitchen to free up some of that precious countertop workspace.

Since I have some nice old screws lying around I originally designed the spool components to print in one piece without an axis, but to make this design available to anyone I also included a version that has a plastic axis and can be assembled using only glue and some bits of 1.75 mm filament.

Instructions

Do NOT print all the STL files! You will only need 2. The wall mounts are required either way, but which of the other ones you will have to print depends on your choice of axis.

A) You happen to have some 7 mm screws.
In this case, simply print "simple_towelholder-_7_mm_screw_required" and screw in the screws until you have the desired length sticking out to be used as the axis. Now stick the two parts into a roll of kitchen towel and use this whole assembly to determine how far away from each other the holes in the wall will have to be.

B) You want to make an all-plastic version.
Print "simple_towelholder-_all_plastic". Align one of each part type so that the small holes are lined up. Now cut 5 pieces of 1.75 mm filament, each about 15 mm long and insert them into the corresponding holes, making sure they go all the way into the holes in the larger parts. This should be a tight fit, but I'd add a few drops of glue as well. Repeat for the other side.
Continue as in A) to mount it on the wall and you're done! :-)
