2 Liter Bottle Skull

Short answer:

Pepsi, Coke, or some other 2 liter bottle of soda.
You can turn that empty bottle into a full skull one foot tall (30 cm)
OR decorate a full bottle with an empty skull.

Chances are you, or someone you know, has a pile of 2-liter bottles.
With that, you could create an army of skulls.

Medium answer:

Two kinds of builds:

  1. Decorate a bottle: Print the skull with a hole on top so you can slip it over a bottle
  2. Turn a bottle into a decoration: Print the skull without a hole and cover a bottle.

In both cases, you print the jaw separately and hot-glue or tape (white or clear) the jaw on.
All the prints require no supports, brims, or infill.
To speed up prints, I used 0.3 mm layers and 0.0 mm bottom layers.

Long answer:

Generally, 2-liter bottles are made of strong, clear, and lightweight plastic.

With a full bottle, you can drop a skull over it and let it spin freely, tape it, or hot-glue it.
Optionally, the jaw can be hot glued/taped to the skull (so it spins freely)
OR fasten the jaw to the bottle with the mouth open, askew, or seemingly dangling.

With an empty bottle, there are all kinds of ways to customize it.

  • Cutting the top off the bottle creates a shorter skull with a flat bottom.
  • Adding water (or something) to the bottle helps weigh it down.
  • Securing a bottle cap overhead lets you screw a skull to the ceiling.
  • Putting lights behind, in, or under the skull lights it up.
  • Cutting holes in the eyes, nose, or mouth makes a great home for snakes, rats, spiders, ...
  • Flipping the bottle upside down turns a bottle neck into a skull neck.
  • For an "aged" look, print in black and paint white (masking off or scrapping areas you want black/dark).
  • Paint a tooth gold, Cut some teeth out,
  • Break/cut the skull into parts and glue the parts to a bottle (good for failed prints)
    ...

Please share your "makes" to give folks ideas on how to customize.

NOTE: For those that want to re-scale the model, Rotate it up 49°, scale as needed, and rotate it back onto the bed.
