The Leisey Shell pit of Hillsborough County, Florida, contained a variety of Equus species fossils. Of these, the species informally termed species "A" was the most common found. Broadly, the animals that these fossils belonged to are referred to as "horses", although genus Equus also contains zebra and donkeys. Hulbert refers specifically to Leisey Equus A as close in form to the extinct Equus scotti and Equus conversidens . There has long been controversy over the taxonomy of pleistocene Equus, and this morphospecies may not even be a member of the Equus.

I have reconstructed the life appearance based upon a partial skeleton from Leisey 1A. You may find further resources in Hulbert's paper as found below.
