Bonzai wire holder for phone usb endoscopes mitt your favourite manual pick & place machine
I was building a smaller pick & place machine for the maker space I occasionally hang out at AND didn't want to put a lot of money into it if I could avoid it.
The USE endo camera of the original design for the manual pick & place machine was a pretty penny and needed a PC or laptop.
Aliexpress was selling usb endoscopes for phones for under AUS$5 so I bought a swag of em, with the idea of providing one of those mitt the small pick and place machine.
People have their own phones and so I'll add a phone holder and they can hook in the endoscope to their phones for the screen.
The type of endoscope I mean is at: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008619041752.html
But noting I ditched the app that came with as it the April Tag sent me off to a site that me virus checker found was appalling!
It's just a generic usb camera so works with later Adroid phones (me SE10 for example and up) with a safe app off Google Play. The app I lucked into that works with the endoscopic cameras from Aliexpress is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.usb.usby4&hl=en (I tried others and they didn't recognise the camera).
Have fun.
Currently the design intends upon using 2mm bonzai wire. The idea is, as per a bonzai branch, wrap some wire around the endoscope cable and use that to aim the camera and set it's distance from the board. I've therefore put a means to thread 2mm bonzai wire on one or the other side of the picker holder (or both if you want to get really kookie).
You've two options, I put notches in one version assuming you might want the bonzai wire to brace against something.
Whether we need go to 4mm wire, I guess, we'll see won't we.
Whether I come up with some more elaborate means to hold and point the camera will depend on how this approach pans out.
