2020-2025 Kia Soul Third Gen Car Phone Mount
This is a phone mount for a third gen Kia Soul (2020-2025) with the 7inch display. It might work with the 10inch display as well, but I havent tested it (leave a comment if you try it).
I got tired of flimsy vent mounts, or failing suction cups and adhesives. This vent will rip the bezel out of the car before it breaks.
It allows for the use of either a 17mm or 17.7mm ball and socket attachment. My Anker MagGo Wireless 15W charger uses the 17.7mm ball, and my UGREEN 15W Wireless car charger uses a 17mm ball. These are both common sizes and will likely work for many other brands of clips.
Materials and Instructions:
- (4) M3x10mm screws (If you dont have 10mm, you can use 12mm but you might need to cut them down to fit)
- (4) M3 nuts
- (4) M3 washers
- (1) M4x25mm button head screw (must be button head to fit)
- (1) M4 nut
- Blue threadlocker (optional but recommended)
- Print 1 mount.stl and 1 of the appropriate balls (mentioned above) in the given orientation at 100% infill for optimal strength. Some people have sucess with PETG inside cars, some dont. I used PETG. Depending on brand, print quality, climate, etc, it may warp or it may be ok. Print in ASA or ABS if you are able to.
- Removal the radio bezel carefully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEavRdo8jvw
- Use the print as a guide for drilling the 4 holes. A 1/8" (3.175mm) bit works great or use a 3mm bit and run it in and out a few times to enlarge it.
- Attach the mount with the nuts and washers on the backside of the bezel. Dont overtighten and break the bezel. I recommend a drop of blue (medium) threadlocker to prevent the nuts from coming loose.
- Reinstall the bezel.
- Insert the M4 screw into the ball and place the nut on the backside of the mount. Thread the ball in and face the angled direction towards the driver and snug down the screw.
- Hold the back of the bracket and firmly snap the ball into the socket of your clip/charger. It is a tight fit. If you can't get it to snap in, you may need to sand the ball a little. Or if its too loose, try 101% print scale.
