Fiber Optic "LC" Connector Cover Keepers
Why? Fiber optic connector ends are delicate and exposed, vulnerable to scratches and occlusion from microscopic "foreign objects." Connector covers also serve a "safety" purpose, protecting eyes from lasers. As well these bits of plastic become foreign objects themselves, and they are used in pairs which makes them miserable to keep track of individually. I tried installing these tethers onto a mix of products from various manufacturers and they are working fairly smoothly.
Printing: I used TPU. The tethers generally need a little stretch during installation. I can print 90 at a time on a 250x250 plate.
Installation: Orient so the two ends of the tether can touch when folded together. An awl, icepick, or small flat screwdriver might aid stretching "lctetheredcouplingcoverkeeper" into place. For "lctetheredclipkeeper" and "lctetheredclipcoverkeeper" the tether is kept on the cable by a split bracelet that is thick enough to have some resistance to pulling off. But I personally melt the split together after installation, using a soldering iron heated to the working temperature of my TPU, so that my tethers don't pull off the cables.
