FineTireJig
There are a few existing approaches to tire gluing jigs for 1/10 buggy tires and other platforms. This one is modular. Just print the base and the inner and upper sizes you might use. The inner piece threads into the base, and should support the inner rim in either direction. For narrow front wheels you might need higher support, you can thread the inner halfway or so and gain plenty of support height. The upper threads around the base as you might expect, and pulls the tire bead open for easier gluing.
Currently supports 12mm hex drive wheels in a few dimensions I've encountered, specifically 50mm Kyosho (Inner-46 & Upper-60), Kyosho 43mm (Inner-36 & Upper-52), and JC Pioneer 2.2" (Inner-50 & Upper-68). The 50/68 combination will likely work for most 2.2" wheels. As I create more inner designs to support different configurations I'll try to upload and describe them here.
You can press in or glue an M4 nut to the inside of the inner pieces and use a bolt to center and mount wheels. You can also just thread a bolt into the plastic, stick a hex tool in from the top, or line things up by hand
The hex doesn't really interface with the outside face of a rim, but it shouldn't interfere much unless you have an unusual rim profile. Feel free to modify or remix.
After using it to glue a few sets of 2.2" wheels with both firm and soft tires, I find the hex nub is hardly necessary, but doesn't really inhibit function either. Overall I believe it works well as a V1 modular system. If anyone is clamoring for convenient design updates then I will consider revisions, alternate configurations, or quality of life improvements such as increased grip area, stackable washers for the inner column to make narrow wheels easier, or perhaps inserts for the upper piece to enable printing a single set of threads and then much easier-to-print inserts to more easily reconfigure for different rim diameters.
