Retractable Caster Latch
Like many of us, I am slowly outgrowing my workspace. In order to maintain my level of mindless consumption and interest in all things shiny and new, I need to be able to move stuff around. I tried the Rockler step casters but they turned out to be expensive foot grabbers so I remembered I have an engineering degree from YouTube University and landed on the ubiquitous step caster set-up. Cheap, effective and out of the way. My only issue was how to move them to the deployed position and retract them when done all without bending over or crawling around the shop floor. Here is what I came up with. One is sized to fit 3/4" material and the other fit 2"x4" stock.
I used ABS and beefed them up using 5 walls, 5 layers top and bottom and 35% infill.
