Trailblazer Arrow Fletching Collar

Rigid Vane Fletching Collars are a contemporary device design that matches the advances in compound bow and carbon arrow production.

This Trailblazer collar device provides a single arrow fletching mounting apparatus with vanes that can be installed without the use of tools, adhesives or mounting jigs,
and to also provide for the easy removal of the device. In such instances where, for example, a carbon shaft may be retrofitted with a hunting broad-head, a corresponding collar of the proper vane size and stability performance can be easily fitted.

‘Rigid’ vanes, in this instance, are supported by long standing aerodynamic theory and practice, and envisioned as divergent from historical and traditional fletching as compound bow technology, speeds and forces continually develop. Specifically, rigid vanes eliminate the currently ‘accepted’ aerodynamic flutter of flexible vanes and the pliability of current production materials. The collar vanes have a nominal twist rate.

Trailblazer’s ‘nock-lock’ installation: The collar is inserted onto the rear of the arrow shaft and secured in place with your existing OEM arrow nock piece.

Almost ten years ago the Trailblazer was designed and tested with my access to NASA fin stabilization research and the Barrowman papers.

Today’s 3D printers make production available to archers at home and at little cost in time and materials. I have enjoyed shooting these for a decade and now you can too.

If your shafts vary in tolerance, you can adjust the scale slightly without effect to flight.

You can also print these in TPU if you prefer the flexibility or you shoot close groups where the PLA may get nicked.
