Woodwork Template
Update
The second version is a bit taller (the edge is at 50mm, instead of 35mm) and it has also a 45 angle alignment.
From time to time I work with wood, 18mm thick plywood or composite to build up cabinets. While assembling, you need to do a lot of measurements and using a ruler could be time consuming in the process.
This template is speeding up the alignment/measurement process and saves a lot of time. Some information about the template:
- First of all, this was made for the metric system. I don't have any knowledge about what is commonly used in imperial system. Sorry ;-)
- It provides holes for the drill at 9 mm from the edge for 4, 5 and 8mm holes. These are the most common holes I drill for assembling screws or wood pins
- It has a 100mm length. Again a lot of things I do are aligned at 10cm and therefore is handy to use the template.
- The cut in views are at 25mm apart from the edge. These could be used for making signs on the board with a pencil or can be used to align the drilling holes with a sign already made on the board.
- The top edge can be used as a small ruler. The bumps on it are 10mm apart.
- The side is also having a few marks at 10mm apart. Place the tip of the pencil in any of them and move the template to mark along the edge.
- There are additional lengths that can be used: 9mm, 15mm, 27mm, 35mm. Check the attached pictures for details.
The SketchUp Maker 2017 file is attached. If you find the model useful fill free to use it. I would love it if you would also buy me a coffee ;-)
