    Magical Broomstick - DIY Costume Prop

    Introduction

    Feeling like a witch? I got you flying!
    With this Magical Broomstick you can show up at Carnival, Halloween, or a Cosplay party with style!
    ...And the best part? It is all DIY!

    How to make your own broomstick

    What you need to print:

    • 4x Branch.stl (or 1x 4xBranch.stl)
    • 4x Connector.stl
    • 3x Ring.stl
    • 1x Knob
    • 1x KnobConnector.stl
    • 1x Clip.stl
    • 1x Splitter.stl

    Note: If you want a shorter or longer broomstick than pictured, you can adjust the number of Branch.stl, Connector.stl, and Ring.stl.
    Each Branch.stl is 250 mm long.

    Suggested print settings:
    Branch:

    • Use brim for stability.
    • Fuzzy skin (0.8 point distance and 0.2 thickness).
      Ring, Knob, and Clip:
    • Print slow for perfect finish.
    • I printed at 40 mm/s.
    • Print at 0.16 mm layer height for perfect finish.

    All files were printed with 10%-15% grid infill.

    Other supplies you need:

    • Glue (I used a hot glue gun).
    • A 35x35 cm piece of corrugated cardboard.
      ‎

    Cardboard bristles:
    For reference, please see the images above.

    1. Cut a 35x35 cm piece of cardboard.
    2. Devide one side into parts of 5 cm, 5 cm, and 25 cm.
    3. Cut bristles in the first and third part (5 cm and 25 cm), leaving the second part (5 cm) intact.

    Assembly:

    1. Print all files and prepare the cardboard bristles.
    2. Glue the KnobConnector to the Knob.
    3. Glue the KnobConnecter (and Knob) to one end of a Branch.
    4. Glue all Branches together with a Connector between each branch.
      • Remember to add a Ring on each connector for a stylish look.
    5. Glue the end of a Branch to the Splitter with a Connector.
    6. Curl the cardboard bristles around the Splitter and the end of the connected Branch.
    7. Glue/secure the cardboard with the Clip for a stylish look.

    About this project

    In Denmark a carnival called "fastelavn" is approaching and a family member of mine will be dressed as a witch, but needed a broomstick to complete the look.
    This is why I designed this DIY Magical Broomstick.
    Besides "fastelavn", this broomstick is perfect for Halloween, cosplay costumes, and other festive occasions.
