Skadis Clip

Skådis Clip

Skådis Clip is a simple clip designed for IKEA Skådis perforated panels. No unnecessary philosophy — just a clear understanding of what it’s actually for.

I use it to hold notes, but its main purpose is vacuum bags for filament. You take the spool out — and the bag doesn’t end up lying around the workspace, getting crumpled or lost. It always hangs in the same place. In day-to-day printing, this unexpectedly makes life easier: less visual noise, less chaos, less irritation.

A separate note on the spring.

This design intentionally uses a metal spring, not a plastic one. Why? Because plastic creeps over time: it deforms, loses tension, and eventually the clip stops being a clip.

I deliberately avoid disposable, “just for fun” solutions. I prefer utilitarian objects that are built to last. That’s why it’s metal. A link to the recommended spring is included in the description.

From a construction standpoint, there were other options — for example, using cylindrical pins. Instead, I chose M2 countersunk screws and M2 heat-set threaded inserts. It’s reliable, predictable, and easy to service. All hardware links are also included in the description.

It’s also worth noting that Skådis Clip isn’t limited to Skådis panels.

If you want to mount it on a fridge, that’s easy too:

  • acrylic double-sided tape
  • magnets

— just choose what fits your use case.

At its core, it’s just a clip. Compact. Simple. Functional.

But over time, it’s exactly these small details that make a workspace genuinely comfortable. At least for me.
