Primary Mirror Spacer for Skywatcher 1145P (maybe other 114mm Newtonians)
This part was made for my Skywatcher 114/500 Newtonian reflector.
It may well fit other SYNTA-made scopes of the same size.
It sits in the mirror tray and essentially extends it so as to raise the primary mirror within the tube.
This modification is a neater alternative to cutting the tube to allow prime focus with a DSLR camera.
3x longer main bolts will be required but this utilises the original springs and locking bolts.
Heat-set inserts will help make this part stronger were the bolts touch.
This part is 20mm in height which is what I ended up using.
If you need a different height (you may well), then just adjust the Y axis height in your slicer to suit.
Do ensure that you don't adjust with linked axis (keep X&Z the same).
100% infill would be recommended. PLA is fine.
See the following video for more details on how to make this modification and why.
