Vibration Experiment

Students will experiment with different material (rubber bands, monofilament fishing line, string, etc.) to wrap around the pegs to make different sounds based on distance, how taut the material is, and what material is used. The pegs at the same distance are for comparing the same kind of material or act as a control group. You can also stretch a rubber band on four of the pegs of the same distance and a rubber band on two of the pegs of the same distance to show students the different tautness and sound. I credit my wife for this idea.
NGSS 1st grade 1-PS4-1. Plan and conduct investigations to provide evidence that vibrating materials can make sound and that sound can make materials vibrate.
