Summary

A gauge for sorting drill bits by size. Slip the bit into the slot and slide it towards the small end until it stops. Read off the size to the nearest 1/64nd of an inch.

13 Feb 2018 update: I added a "compact" version of the gauge. "Compact" is a relative term since the part is still 14" wide. I made it large so as to make it difficult to misplace.

Instructions

Will probably require a little tuning for your laser, depending on the beam kerf. Recommended for thick (6mm+ acrylic).

Note: this is a VERY LARGE gauge (24" wide) to allow for ease of use.

Cut out one copy, then use some known-sized drill bits to check the alignment of the grid to the slot. If needed move the grid to the left or right until the marks align with the bit size and reprint. Once calibrated to your laser's beam, you can cut out as many copies as your like for your friends.

Black is for thru-cutting the acrylic. Red is for etching. Specific settings will depend on your laser.

The grid and the labeling are grouped in Inkscape so one can move them left or right by selecting and using the arrow keys (or alt+arrow key for smaller movements.
