Printed microelectrode instrumentation (supplementary files for scientific article)
This page contains the 3D files of objects i designed for the project "Two photon polymerization on flexible neural probes for multifunctional 3D microelectrodes". The objective of this research project is to print micro electrodes on flexible neural probes using two photon polymerization, selectively metalize them by electroless gold coating and carry out chronic implantation on rat.
The details of this project are describes in a scientific articles, the link to it will be added here as soon as it is publicly released. This page will gather all the 3D files linked to this project. Whenever possible i included the original solidworks files to facilitate remixes and adaptations. Some files designed for this project but with a wider application area have already been released. In those cases i will simply add a link to it, and a short explanation of how i used it in the description bellow. Given the low number of people potentially interested i will not make a tutorial for building those devices, but feel free to contact me for more details on Thingiverse or at the address [email protected]
-Shuttle retraction system; This file contains all the elements used to hold the neural probes on 8mm tubes compatible with stereotaxic stages and retract the tungsten shuttles. To build it you will need 2mm and 1.5mm stainless rods to use as sliders and pivot, Various M2 and M2.5 screws as well as some knobs from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7316340
-Gyroid tower structures:Those are the 3D files used to print the electrode structures. It contains the adhesion pads. It is scalled 1000X.
-Rat headgear / probe protection boxThis file contain various versions of the headgear fixed on the rat head during chronic implantation to protect the probes of grooming behaviors and hits against the rat cage.
-Two photon development instrumentationThis file contains the holders designed to orient the probes upside down during the development process of the two photon resin, and the printed box used to maintain it in dak conditions.
- Cleaving jigThis file contains the system used to maintain the probes under water and cleave the silicon substrate precisely at the base of the shank after the shuttle fixation.
