Turn your Parkside peh-30-e5 into a Thickness Planer

With these printable parts, you can modify your parkside electric planer to become a thickness planer for long, but narrow pieces of wood. They can't be wider than the planer itself (~80mm). Though it is limited in use, it is minimally invasive. So you should be able to keep using the planer for everything you used it before.

It seems to work quite good so far, but I have only done a few test-pieces, so be careful and try some test pieces before you ruin your work.

This has got to be one of the cheapest thickness planers you can get.

Assembly instructions:

  • Drill holes with a 7.5mm drill bit in the back of the planer (drill guides included)
  • insert an 11cm M8 rod into those holes
  • attach two of the "rear" parts at the back, add a washer on each side and fasten them with two wing nuts (or similar).
  • Add the two front parts (they are different for left and right!), fasten them with the original fasteners.
  • Either take a piece of wood that has the desired height or print the distance block in the desired height. The model is 10mm high. You should be able to scale the z-axis in your printing software easily (do not scale x/y).
  • Loosen all fasteners and put the distance block below the fixed plate of the planer
  • Fasten everything
  • Adjust the knob of the planer as you need and start planing until the planer does not go further.
  • Be careful to not put too much pressure on the planer as it might push the legs out of position.
