Summary

A 6 inch square blinky light project using a 25 strand of 2801 pixels, an HC-SR04 ultrasound distance sensor, a teensy, and 3d printed parts.

Instructions

I find the the 5x5-lenses file looks best when printed in white PLA.

For the other pieces, color doesn't matter much since it's going to pretty much disappear when it's dark out and the panel is on.

You'll need one back, 4 corners, 4 sides, 1 backing LED mount, and one lens. I assembled them with super glue and used a pair of trauma shears to cut slots in the back for my wiring. For the ultrasonic distance sensor I just found a mount I liked somewhere and glued the whole thing to the top.

The electronics are pretty simple, I'm running a teensy 2.0 with the arduino code over here:

You need a separate power line for the LEDs and the teensy, and a few wires from teensy to the sensor and teensy to the strip. If you're interested in building this, there's a wiring sketch in the photos and I'm happy to respond to any questions in the comments.
