Summary

This is a soprano recorder with standard (English) recorder fingering. Unlike recorders of the baroque era onwards, this recorder has a straight bore.

The recorder is an advanced instrument capable of producing a refined and brilliant tone, and considerable chromaticism at the expense of a complex fingering scheme.

Instructions

This instrument is intended to be printed in ABS then welded together using acetone. A key innovation is that the nose is printed separately, giving a firm flat surface at the top of the bore, and an instrument that requires no further work to produce a tone after welding together.

Choose the number of pieces based on the maximum printing height of your printer and what it can print without tipping the part over:

full instrument - 319mm
3 piece - 208mm
4 piece - 150mm
5 piece - 102mm
6 piece - 79mm

I recommend the 5 piece version, if possible. I suggest printing with 100% infill. Due to the tallness of the pieces, they have a tendency to come loose while printing. This has been less of a problem since I switched from kapton tap to blue masking tape as a base material.

To weld two pieces together, dip the two ends you are going to join in acetone for 20 seconds or so, then smoosh them together firmly. Gloves, glasses, and good ventilation would be a good idea while doing this.
