Pen Stand No 1

I write and sketch a lot, so I wanted somewhere to keep my favourite pen or pencil while I work.
I wanted a solid, hefty thing that held my writing implement of choice in the ready position.
This is my first attempt.
It work fine, but.
It looks a bit too plain. Maybe it needs to be more bun shaped, or maybe concave sides, or maybe some slots or a texture.
I don't know - when I decide I will make No 2.
