Summary

The Water Spyder is a Holonomic Paddleboat proof of concept prototype. Holonomic drive systems give vehicles the ability to move in any direction. Holonomic drives have been used on land vehicles but never on an aquatic vehicle. This gives a boat the ability to manuver in very tight spaces and avoid collisions that are encountered while docking. It also puts a modern twist on the classic Paddleboats from the days of Mark Twain.

Instructions

Here are the parts that you will need to construct the water spyder:
1 Main Hull
1 Hull Cap
1 Hull Bottom
4 Motor Housings
4 Motor housing caps
4 Paddlewheels
Print These items at 50% infill or less to make the craft more buoyant

1 Switch
6 Jumper Cables
1 9 volt battery
1 9 volt battery snap
1 mini breadboard
24 4mm thread 5mm long screws.

Assembly:
1 Attach the Hull Bottom and Main Hull with Glue and sealant so it is water tight.
2 While the hull dries, solder Jumper cables to 4 hobby DC motors and solder the battery snap inline with the switch.
3 Place each motor inside a Motor
Housing and glue securely.
4 Screw a moto housing cap onto each motor houing the seal using a sealant.
5 Slide each motor housing into the main hull.
6 Wire the balltery leads thorught the switch and connect to a breadboard to create a power strip.
7 Plug the leads from the motors into the breadboard to power the motors.
8 Attach the paddlewheels onto the motor shafts it should pop on.
9 Switch the polarities of the motors to make the motors spin in the desired direction. (You can also use an ardunino and an h bridge to control the motors)
10 Glue the Switch into the cap and screw the cap onto the Hull.
