Solar-LED-3D-Printed Butterfly Safety Vest

Have you ever hoped, during power cut, for a light source?

Or have you ever wanted a safety vest when you cycle or walk on the streets at night?

Being aware of the importance of safety especially at night, our team designed the very first solar-power-LED integrated 3D-printed safety vest. This design contains:

  • 5 printed pieces, connected via 'zip-like puzzle' and hooks.

  • 1 foldable solar array, 1 rechargeable battery and 1 LED in the center piece.

  • Top and bottom wings with 2 LED light tubes.

  • All parts fell within 190 mm x 185 mm x 139 mm, well within the size of a Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen and other printers.

  • Current chest/bust size (front to back) is limited to 14 cm but the printed pieces can be scaled appropriately to suit your own size!

The rechargeable battery can be charged during day time, taking approximately 1.5 hours to be fully charged at noon. Its automatic lighting and charging functions can then serve as a safety warning, which is believed can be of great use especially for outdoor activities at night, such as cycling, jogging, or as a light source.

So…

Just print it at home and now you can just walk and shine !
